Psychology On-line Colleges – Essential Tool for Quality Education

by Christina Williams

Children are loved almost anywhere, because of their playfulness, childishness, and innocence. Many people would rather work with them because they’re easier to work with, and a lot more fun. Take the opportunity to work with them when you get an online child psychology degree.

Career options for child psychologists include working in clinics, pediatric wards, schools, daycare centers, or even development centers. They help children who are unable to learn properly due to mental conditions grow up properly and conquer behavioral problems.

Studying online is the easiest way to reach your goal. For working students, balancing time in work and school has never been more difficult. Since distanced universities recognize this, they’ve custom-made their programs to suit the needs of students who are both working and studying.

If you go to an 8-5 job, you’re usually too tired to ride another bus to work before going home. But if you get your degree online, you can go straight home after work, switch on your laptop, and start studying there.

When you take advantage of a distance learning program, you can study just about anywhere. You can study at home, in the office, or at a nearby restaurant. If you can get an Internet connection there, then you can work there.

As an employed high-school graduate, you probably don’t make much money yet. So, you probably don’t have enough money to spend just yet. Since a lot of factors, such as dorm rentals, bus fares, and daily canteen lunches are eliminated, you can save money and still get the quality education you deserve.

Don’t fall for the myth that online universities are less credible than online ones. Aside from the fact that they’re accredited by the same accrediting agency (the HLC) which accredits offline ones, their teachers also go through the same exams to make sure that they’re capable of teaching, and are licensed.

Get ready to get your online child psychology degree in the most practical and easiest way possible so you can get started on helping children with their problems, so that they can grow up to be dignified, respectable adults who will help benefit society the way you will be.

How Can You Succeed With Distance Learning Education Why You Work?

by Mary Jackson

Distance learning students and those pursuing online degree programs seem to enjoy the best of everything. They get their education without actually needing to attend classes physically, and at the same time are able to keep their jobs and get a paycheck. In fact, this is one of the more prominent distance learning benefits that attract many students to make this their choice of education. In addition to that, distance learning students also gain the advantage of flexibility where they are able to study at their own pace without adhering to fixed class schedules.

However, distance learning education is not without certain challenges. Traditional students are spurred on by the interaction with others and attending the lectures. Without a lot of discipline and intrinsic motivation, distance learners can easily get sidetracked by life and fail to keep up with the coursework needed to pass the class. Enjoy the benefits, but do not forget the responsibilities.

Therefore, how can distance learning students then overcome this challenge? One habit that a student must adopt is good time management. There is only 24 hours in a day and it is up to us to utilize our time in the best way possible. Set up a daily or weekly plan for yourself and ensure that you set aside time for your studies daily. If you have a family, let them know about your schedule so that they know when you should not be disturbed. Divide your time appropriately between your work, your family and your studies. Of course, discipline is important here as any schedule will not do any good if it is not followed.

Another important aspect of a distance learning education is to stay in touch with classmates and instructors through email, instant messenger(IM), college discussion boards or Internet calling. Discuss projects and assignments with peers who can help you stay focused by holding you accountable, and providing motivation and encouragement whenever needed.

Setting goals and rewarding yourself when you attain them are great self-motivating habits. Start by drawing a chart on the milestones that you need to reach in order to complete your course. Strike out each goal as you complete them and reward yourself accordingly. There is a certain satisfaction whenever we see ourselves progressing and this becomes a motivating force for us to face the next hurdle.

Finally, a quiet place to study, away from distractions, is paramount. The television, telephone, and family will be very distracting and take away from quality study. Set times to not be disturbed. If necessary, lock yourself in a quiet room with adequate space to spread out on a table or desk. Sit in a comfortable chair and add any necessary elements to ensure an environment conducive to productive study.

Although distance learning is a great and effective learning concept, much of its effectiveness is dependent on the habits and determination of the individual. The full advantages of distance learning can only be gained through hard work, discipline and determination for success.

The Best Online Colleges Offer Top Degrees

by Dr. Jonathon Simmons

The internet has completely changed the way we do a lot of things. Just two decades ago, few people saw e-commerce as something which would be viable, let alone the massive industry it is today. Similarly, it wasn’t long ago that you’d be scoffed at if you raised the prospect of earning a degree from an accredited online university. Indeed, a lot of things which were once futuristic conjectures are now a reality, getting an online education among them.

Accredited online universities have proliferated over the last few years, spurred by great improvements in the technologies used to deliver course material over the internet and a growing public interest in the possibility of earning a degree over the World Wide Web. The option of online education has been a boon to many people whose schedules do not permit them to take classes in a traditional university setting and those who cannot quite manage the expense of a conventional college education. Now these people are able to study online with degree-granting online universities and thousands are jumping at the chance; finally, you can take classes on your own schedule!

It is this very flexibility which draws so many people to online education. We now live lives which are busier and more overscheduled than ever and it can be difficult to find the time to take even night classes, let alone a traditional full-time Monday through Friday class schedule. An accredited online university can offer you the same quality educational experience as can a traditional college or university. While there’s no campus experience to be had when pursuing a degree online, the benefits of these web-based programs outweigh the lack of personal interaction with faculty and other students.

In fact, the latest generations of online education technology allow students to interact via chatrooms, online bulletin boards and even VOIP and video conferencing! This permits students to work together on group projects, even when separated geographically; it’s a twist on the online education experience which adds a little of the social element which used to be missing back to the learning environment of an accredited online university.

When looking for an online education, you’ll want to choose your university carefully. Look for an online university which offers the degree-granting program that you want and make sure that it’s properly accredited. An online education which comes from an unaccredited educational institution (whether online or brick and mortar) won’t be recognized by many employers, professional associations and other people to whom your degree matters. You’ll also want to check into the school’s reputation and find out what current and former students have to say about the school’s online education offerings; like anything else, it pays to do some research and comparison shopping.

When you choose to earn your degree with an online education, you’ll be able to study at your own pace and on your own schedule; something which simply isn’t possible at a traditional university. The cost is also less than that of attending classes on-campus, something else which makes an online education something well worth exploring. If you’ve always wanted to earn that degree and increase your earning potential, there’s no need to wait, the degree granting program you’re looking for is out there on the web at an accredited online university!

Is An Online University Degree For You?

by Dr. Thomas Slater

Online schooling has modified distance learning, providing greater convenience and opening new doors for a lot of people who want to multiply their career potential. If you are interested in getting a associates degree online, there are a number of things you should consider.

The first thing you have to make sure of is if online schooling is right for you. Enrolling in an online graduate school or college is ideal for working people or stay-at-home parents. If your other priorities leave you no opportunity to make it to scheduled classes, taking courses online is the best way to go, provided you have a good amount of self-discipline when it comes to time management. Online learning is really for people who do very well with minimum supervision. It can also provide that second chance at further training for older adults who may not feel too comfortable attending classes with people who are a lot younger.

Signing up for an online university degree doesn’t mean that you’ll be getting substandard instruction. An accredited online institution ensures that students get adequate online guidance from their instructors with the use of internet tools. Challenging individual and group projects may be given by your professors, for which you can use various online resources. Forums, message boards and chat rooms are often provided in online college websites to have a venue for and encourage interaction between online students.

There are a lot of different online courses available including associate degrees, bachelor’s, master’s, and even doctorates in fields like healthcare/nursing, business and marketing, information technology, psychology, schooling, and even biology and electrical engineering. As long as you enroll in accredited online colleges, there’s no need to doubt the credibility of this kind of schooling. The syllabi, resource materials, exams, and sometimes even instructors are the same for both online and classroom training. Employers are also generally confident that online graduates have skills as competitive as those who got their programs the traditional way.

Once you’ve made up your mind to continue your studies through online training, the next step is to choose the right degree program and online class to enroll in. Keep the following in mind:

1. When choosing a field of study, you may want to consider what kind of career may be lucrative for you.

2. For institutions who are not purely online and have physical campuses, check if there’s still a residency requirement or if you’ll have to occasionally show up for exams, etc. Consider if you can work these in your schedule.

3. See if the credits you’ll be getting from an online postgraduate school will be transferable just in case you’ll have to continue with another school at some point.

4. Check if the online two-year college has resources like an online library and tutorial services. You may want to get more value out of your enrollment.

5. Beware online diploma mills, especially if what you’re really after is learning that can be of use in your future career.

6. Most importantly, check if the online community college is accredited by the appropriate regional agency. Your diploma will be useless if not issued by an accredited university.

Career Opportunity – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

by Jane Grey

The nursing qualification ladder begins with the Licensed Practical Nurse or LPN. If you wish to qualify as an LPN you must complete a training course approved by the State Board of Nursing. The qualification program lasts approximately 18 months to two years. Some school courses may be as little as 12 months. In order to achieve full qualification prospective candidates who have completed the approved program must then pass an examination.

The name of the examination you must pass in order to get licensed is NCLEX-PN. It is essential for students to pass this examination if you actually want to practice as a nurse. As a licensed nurse you will be able to carry out a range of medical procedures from simple to complex. LPN’s are however required to be supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN) or a physician.

Prior to being admitted to an authorized training program a candidate usually has to show that as a minimum they have achieved a high school diploma. They must also demonstrate that they have not been prosecuted for any criminal activities. It is however increasingly possible, due mainly to increasing demand for the LPN qualification, to start the training course without the high school diploma. In fact, there are instances these days whereby a student can commence the LPN training process through vocational programs whilst they are still in high school.

As a prospective student you are spoilt for choice as there are a large number of approved training programs across the country. All these schools offer the necessary qualification programs.

In fact according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics from 2006 the total number of state approved training courses exceeded 1,500 in practical nursing programs. Many more qualification programs have sprung up since 2006 many of which have been designed specifically for completion by online students.

There is a clinical aspect to all the qualification courses. This may be difficult to undertake on a distance learning basis. As a result it is not unlikely that students would be required to attend some form of organized clinical training events. This should not present a significant problem as there are many local vocation schools, technical programs and community colleges that offer complete courses or just specific aspects of the training regime.

Once a student has attained the LPN qualification they are capable of taking on a variety of different activities. The scope of these activities range from simple measurements, for instance temperature or blood pressure measurement, on to administering CPR on a patient who may be suffering a heart attack. Most normally the LPN’s role will be to administer good quality care to infirm, elderly or recuperating patients in a caring environment.

Selecting a College; A Few Simple Steps

by Daniel Kane

College admission is, in its simplest form, a numbers game. In fact, while some would call it a kind of lottery, lotteries offer almost no chance of success to those who participate in them, while quite the opposite is true of college admission. There are nearly 3,500 colleges and universities in the United States (counting two and four year institutions) so students have no shortage of options. So, students who do a little research and a bit of thinking about what kind of educational environment best suits them should not have a problem landing at a college or university in which he or she is likely to be happy and academically successful. Believe it or not, students who start their college search early, make good use of the college and financial aid information available in college guides and websites, and ultimately apply to at least four or five carefully chosen colleges can sail through the process with little or no anxiety or hassle. Despite the media’s preoccupation with how tough it is to get admitted to the Harvard’s, Yale’s, and Princeton’s of the world, a very small number of colleges deny admission to nearly as many students as they admit. Thus, if you do not have the grades, SAT scores and desire to attend a very highly selective college and you have applied to a realistic set of colleges your chances at each are high. On the other hand, if your grades and test scores put you in the top five percent and you are applying to the highly selective few, just be sure to also apply to a few of the hundreds of great schools that are not quite as selective.

A few colleges and universities, places like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT, receive so many applications from top students that they can be incredibly selective, admitting just fifteen percent of their applicants (sometimes fewer). But, many good colleges, some with pretty high profiles, admit forty to sixty percents. And, nationally, the acceptance rate is close to seventy-five percent (75%).

Remembering these statistics, you are ready to begin the process of selecting and gaining admission to a college. Look for and find six to eight colleges which offer the major(s) of greatest interest to you, are likely to admit students with your grades and scores, and provide the campus lifestyle and environment you seek. Start by meeting with your college counselor to:

1. ask for his/her college recommendations.

2. be sure you are scheduled to take the right high school courses.

3. sign up for the SAT and ACT.

4. find out which colleges will be visiting your school, and when.

5. sign up for the college fairs being held in your area.

Remember, the internet is a great source of information. Select keywords like “colleges”, “universities”, “scholarships”, etc.

Once you’ve completed the above steps, you are well on your way. It doesn’t have to difficult.

Online Schools Made Easy

by Michael Fleischner

There are a number of ways to complete your education today. Getting a degree can happen via the traditional route or through an online institution. Many colleges offer online learning as well as those which are 100 percent online. The only difference is that online universities may not require any on campus activities.

Students are comfortable with completing their assignments and learning online. You need to be disciplined and capable of following a schedule. This is the only way to truly succeed in an online environment. Unlike sitting in a classroom, online universities require that you log on to access class assignments and homework.

Choosing an online program doesn’t take more than a few clicks of your mouse. The best way to begin is with an internet search for accredited universities. An accredited school has had its curriculum reviewed by an accrediting agency and approved. This means that the school’s credit is transferable and they can qualify for issuing federal student aid.

After starting your search, focus on the area for which you want your degree. If you are looking for an online degree in culinary, then dont seek out schools with only one offering. There are online schools that specialize by discipline. Your best bet is to find a school that has a strong program in the degree area you want.

After you have identified a list of potential programs, find out how long it will take for you to finish your online degree. You should also determine online attendance costs, requirements, and commitments. Find a program that meets your needs in the time frame you are looking for. Most importantly, think about your finances. How will you pay for your degree?

Once you’ve completed the researching phase of your online education, it’s time to begin completing the application. Most online universities offer applications online that have a number of requirements. You may have to access your secondary school transcripts as well as financial information. Take time completing your application as mistakes could delay the admissions process.

Once you have completed your application, focus on what you will need to start your classes. Your class schedule will most likely be based on a semester and a specific time frame. You want to check to make sure that you have all the necessary materials and that you understand class requirements. Since there is not physical class to show up to, you will need to log on to complete assignments.

Make sure you have a good computer and reliable internet access. Online educators are not very tolerant of assignments that havent been completed because of difficulty accessing the internet. If you have a good computer and reliable internet access, you are ahead of the game and are likely to succeed. Attending school online is a great way to learn. Investigate online learning options and be sure to ask the right questions.
